Boats Direct USA is expanding its new boat inventory to include an exciting selection of the extremely affordable NauticStar Boats, perfect for serious fishing or family fun and priced low enough for anybody’s budget.  The company manufactures Bay Boats, Sport Deck Boats and Offshore Boats.

“This is the lowest priced new boat line in the Florida Keys,” said Boats Direct USA owner Mark Fischer, who sells new and used boats. “They have lot of smaller boats, they are good quality and a good price. It’s a good quality, affordable, entry-level boat.”

“We are Cadillac-quality manufacturers but we are Chevrolet-priced, and we back with a lifetime warranty,” said Jeff Riggins, southeast regional sales manager in Tampa for NauticStar Boats. “We are the No. 1 bay boat retailing company in the country.”

Boats Direct USA General Manager Anthony Ousley said NauticStar helps complete Boats Direct USA’s variety of selection to better serve customers from all walks of life. Boats Direct USA had many high-end, custom boats in its inventory. The addition of NauticStar provides a robust offering of lower-priced, affordable quality boats, he noted.

“We are trying to capture the same business model as Off Lease Only where we have a customer come on the lot and we have a full spectrum of boats to choose from – not just a few – from your entry-level boater to your Rolls Royce,” Ousley said. “NauticStar was a missing piece of the spectrum, giving our customers several extremely affordable new options conveniently in Key Largo, perfect for sea trials.”

Based in Amory, MS, NauticStar adds contrast to the offerings at Boats Direct USA, many of which are high-end, pricey custom builds.

“Always with experience is going to come the know-how. And knowing what works, we can do it at a price that people can afford,” said Phillip Faulkner, head of NauticStar’s marketing department and the son of NauticStar president Phil Faulkner. “We give people a lot of choices.

“We have learned how to achieve a quality level and also be cost-conscious. NauticStar is the crosspoint between quality and price,” Faulkner said.

The combination of amazing quality and amazing price is exactly why Fischer added NauticStar to the Boats Direct USA inventory.

“It’s an entry level, affordable boat line. A good quality, affordable entry level boat,” Fischer said.

Too often, high quality recreational boats are priced way out of the range of the general population, or they are very cheap and not of quality construction, Faulkner noted.

“I think the intersection of price and quality is important,” Faulkner said.

Founded in 2002, NauticStar builds and sells three different segments of boats:

  • Bay Boats, 18 to      24 feet long, starting at $21,599
  • Sport Deck      Boats, 20 to 24 feet long, starting at $28,033
  • Offshore Boats,      19 to 25 feet long, starting at $23,851

All three boat segments will be marketed through Boats Direct USA and Riggins expects sales in Key Largo to take off. Boats Direct USA will be stocking everything NauticStar manufactures, Riggins said.

Demand for the boats is high: NauticStar Boat sales are up 30 percent this year, Riggins added.

“It’s been phenomenal. Everything we manufacture is what people buy in Florida,” Riggins said. “We are major contender here in Florida. We are the fifth best-selling fiberglass outboard propulsion boat in Florida.”

All NauticStar Boats are made of composite construction and feature a molded, one-piece fiberglass stringer system.

“It’s not a cheap way to build a boat and we back it with a lifetime warranty,” Riggins noted.

NauticStar President Phillip Faulkner has an extensive background in boat-building. The longtime marine industry professional has been in the business since 1978, when he started a marine dealership in Monroe County. In 1987, Faulkner founded Fibersport in Amory, MS, and began manufacturing fiberglass bass boats, deck boats and runabouts. He sold that business in 1999, then tried his hand manufacturing aluminum fishing boats and pontoons, forming Summit Boat Co. in Aberdeen, MS, in 2000. That company eventually merged with Triton Boat Co.

In 2002, Faulkner re-acquired the Amory, MS, boat manufacturing facility, then founded NauticStar LLC. Faulkner began producing the Bay Boats, Deck Boats and Offshore Boats of today in 2003.

NauticStar recently announced the expansion of its Amory, MS, manufacturing facility to accommodate the production of boats larger than 28 feet. The $460,259 project will create 30 new jobs and add 20,000 square feet to the company’s existing 160,000-square feet of manufacturing space and connect NauticStar’s two existing facilities.
